Beam Shade sprouted from the heartfelt desire to ensure Indigenous stories are not only remembered, but thrive in every generation. Founded in Toronto, we draw on time-honoured practices, guided by knowledge keepers and educators committed to respectful, authentic sharing. Our inspiration comes from sunlight weaving through trees—offering illumination, shelter, and connection. As a team, we honour our heritage, nurture community, and act as stewards of oral tradition in a changing world.

Meet Our Team

Led by a council of elders and storytellers, our team brings together Indigenous educators, linguists, artists, and youth leaders. Each member offers unique insights and a shared pledge to honour traditions and cultivate curiosity. We regularly collaborate with local nations and knowledge holders for every program and project.
